Step by Step Process to Buying A Home

Spring is here!

The Spring Real Estate Market is thriving, and we are seeing a significant increase in demand for homes in Voorhees, especially from millennials.

In fact, the current absorption rate in our area is only 3 months, which means that if no more homes come on the market, we will only be able to sustain the current demand for up to 3 months.

This is great news for anyone considering selling their home, as the high demand can lead to a boost in your bottom line.

If you are thinking about selling your home, now is the perfect time to do so. To get started, it's essential to focus on your curb appeal, which can significantly impact the value of your property. That's why we've put together a helpful checklist to help you get started.

Friendly reminder: Before you make a repair, be sure to check with a real estate agent to make sure it is worth your return on investment. Feel free to Book A Call with me if you have any questions or want a free consultation!

Are you a little behind on your spring cleaning? Grab a copy of the Ultimate Spring Cleaning Checklist that was featured last month.

What's Happening in Memphis This Weekend? August 22–23, 2026

Looking for something fun to do around Memphis this weekend?

Whether you're trying to keep the kids entertained, looking for something different to do, want to catch a show, or just need an excuse to get out of the house, Memphis has plenty going on this Saturday and Sunday.

Here are a few things worth putting on your weekend calendar.

🍅 Edgy Tomato Festival

Saturday, August 22 | 4–9 p.m.

If you've never been to theEdgy Tomato Festival, this is your sign.

Taking place in the Edge District around Marshall and Monroe, this free festival celebrates all things tomato—and Memphis creativity while it's at it.

Expect a tomato-themed art show, makers market, food specials, pop-ups, and plenty of opportunities to explore the neighborhood.

It's one of those very Memphis events that sounds a little random until you realize how much fun it actually is.

Best for:Foodies, families, local shoppers, and anyone who enjoys an event that doesn't take itself too seriously.

🌱 Native Plant Palooza

Saturday, August 22 | 10:30 a.m.–5 p.m.

Looking for something a little more laid-back?

Head to Lichterman Nature Center forNative Plant Palooza.

Admission is free all day, with native plant sales, outdoor learning opportunities, speakers, and activities for kids.

There will be sessions covering everything from foraging and trees to fireflies, planting for wildlife, and Mid-South native plants.

Kids can also explore the Discovery Forest, see animal ambassadors, and make crafts using natural materials.

Best for:Families, gardeners, nature lovers, and anyone who would rather spend Saturday outside than inside a shopping center.

🏡 South Memphis Affordable Home Show

Saturday, August 22 | 11 a.m.–4 p.m.

If buying a home is somewhere on your radar, this is one to check out.

TheSouth Memphis Affordable Home Showgives prospective homeowners an opportunity to tour a completed home and learn more about the home-buying process.

There will also be opportunities to connect with housing and mortgage resources, including lenders offering pre-qualification information.

Even if you're not ready to buy tomorrow, events like this can be a great way to get a better idea of what's available and what it takes to become a homeowner.

Best for:First-time buyers, future homeowners, and anyone curious about affordable housing options in Memphis.

🛍️ Vintage Market at Highland

Saturday, August 22 | 9 a.m.–1 p.m.

If digging through vintage finds is more your speed, there's a vintage market happening at Highland on Saturday morning.

It's an easy option for a casual Saturday outing—especially if you like finding things you didn't know you needed until you saw them.

Best for:Vintage lovers, treasure hunters, and people who enjoy saying, “I have absolutely no idea where I'm going to put this, but I love it.”

🎤 D.L. Hughley Live

Saturday, August 22 | 7 p.m.

Need a date-night idea?

D.L. Hughley is bringing his stand-up show to the Cannon Center for the Performing Arts downtown Saturday night.

It's a good excuse to grab dinner downtown and make a night of it.

Best for:Date night, comedy fans, and anyone who needs a good laugh.

🎶 Leanne Morgan at the Orpheum

Saturday & Sunday

Southern humor meets storytelling when comedianLeanne Morganbrings herThe Time of Our Lives Tourto the Orpheum Theatre.

There are performances Saturday evening and two Sunday performances, giving you several opportunities to catch the show.

If you've got a friend or family member who loves comedy, this could be an easy weekend win.

Best for:Comedy fans, date night, and a fun night out at one of Memphis' most recognizable theaters.

⚾ Catch the Redbirds

Saturday, August 22 | 6:35 p.m.
Sunday, August 23 | 1:05 p.m.

Sometimes you don't need an elaborate weekend plan.

Grab some ballpark food, sit outside, and watch theMemphis Redbirds take on the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimpat AutoZone Park.

Saturday night's game is at 6:35 p.m., while Sunday's game starts at 1:05 p.m.

That's a pretty solid family-friendly weekend option—or an excuse to eat a hot dog for lunch and call it a sporting event.

Best for:Families, baseball fans, and anyone looking for a classic Memphis weekend activity.

👟 MiLP Pickleball Tournament

Saturday & Sunday

Pickleball fans can check outMinor League Pickleball (MiLP)at Pickleball Kingdom in East Memphis this weekend.

You don't have to be on a Minor League team to attend, so if you're curious about the sport—or already completely obsessed with it—this is one to check out.

Best for:Pickleball players, sports fans, and anyone who has recently decided pickleball is their entire personality.

🎵 Kids Markets + Live Music in Lakeland

Saturday, August 22 | 6–9 p.m.

If you're looking for something to do with the kids Saturday evening, head to International Harvester Managerial Park in Lakeland.

The Kids Markets event gives young entrepreneurs ages 5–17 a chance to sell their own products while families enjoy live music and food as part of the LAMP Summer Concert Series.

The event itself is free to attend.

Best for:Families with kids, supporting young entrepreneurs, and an easy Saturday-night outing.

🌵 Agave & Ash Festival

Sunday, August 23 | 1–6 p.m.

Looking for a Sunday afternoon activity?

TheAgave & Ash Festivaltakes over Shelby Farms Park with tequila, cigars, live music, art, and food.

This is definitely more of an adults-oriented afternoon than a kids' event, but if you're looking for something different from the usual Sunday routine, it's an option.

Best for:Adults looking for an afternoon out with food, drinks, music, and a little something different.

So What's the Best Memphis Weekend Plan?

Honestly, it depends on your mood.

For families:
Native Plant Palooza → Redbirds

For something uniquely Memphis:
Edgy Tomato Festival → explore the Edge District

For home lovers:
South Memphis Affordable Home Show → explore the neighborhood

For date night:
Dinner downtown → D.L. Hughley or Leanne Morgan

For a chill Saturday:
Vintage Market → lunch → explore a Memphis neighborhood

For Sunday:
Redbirds → Agave & Ash

One More Reason I Love Weekends in Memphis

One of my favorite things about living in Memphis is that you don't always have to spend a lot of money—or plan six weeks in advance—to find something fun to do.

A Saturday morning market, an afternoon exploring a neighborhood, a ballgame, live music, or a random festival you've never heard of can turn into a pretty great day.

So get out, try something new, support a local business, and enjoy your weekend.

And if you happen to discover your new favorite Memphis spot along the way, even better.

Event dates, times, prices, and availability can change, so it's always a good idea to confirm details with the event organizer before heading out.
